EOIs for programming funding were open until 2 Aug for the Golden Festival, Albert-Eden’s age-friendly community celebration (previously known as IDOP Albert-Eden).
This year’s Golden Festival is celebrated from Wednesday 1 October to Sunday 18th October.
Purpose of the Funding
This funding aims to support new and innovative activities that enhance the wellbeing, connection, and active participation of seniors in Albert-Eden. It provides an opportunity to:
• Pilot or trial new initiatives that respond to the needs and interests of older people
• Explore new partnerships or collaborative approaches between groups, organisations, or community practitioners
• Encourage inclusive, culturally responsive, and intergenerational engagement
Eligibility Criteria:
- Activities must be scheduled within the festival period: Thursday 1 October to Sunday 18 October
- Open to groups, non-profits, local organisations, and practitioners working to support seniors
- Initiatives must be free to attend
- The initiative must take place within the Albert-Eden local board area and align with Age-Friendly Auckland Action Plan to support well-being, social connection, or active participation of older adults.
- Projects and initiatives must be inclusive and accessible, and we encourage cultural responsiveness for older adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Higher priority will be given to new and innovative initiatives that demonstrate collaboration with one or more local partners.
- Intergenerational events must feature seniors prominently

Funding use & accountability:
- Funding can support direct event costs, facilitation, venue hire, materials, etc. Please note that marketing is done by Golden Festival, with information provided by organiser.
- You must provide a simple budget to outline how the funding will be used.
- Successful applicants must submit a simple post-event report, (form will be supplied) including basic participation data and reflections, plus receipts from costs.
Exclusions
- Wages, administrative expenses, equipment & capital purchases, regular or ongoing organisational/programming costs.
- Initiatives not community-focussed
- Projects occurring outside the the festival period
- Initiatives not open to all seniors, or limited to by a membership
- Expenses for projects that have already taken place
The grant recipient will:
- Organise the event and ensure it is staffed appropriately
- Ensure that they have the appropriate permissions in place for any public spaces or other venues requiring a permit (ask us if you’re unsure)
- Provide the information needed (event info, blurbs, images) for marketing in a timely manner
- Invite their own networks to the event
- Manage the budget for the event
- Submit accountability by mid November
Golden Festival will:
- Support with the EOI process – including communicating with you about your proposal
- Create the marketing for the event (based on your supplied wording and images), including:
- Website listing on the festival website
- Facebook event (which we add the organiser as a co-host)
- Instagram posts (organiser invited as collaborator)
- Poster
- Inclusion in printed programme
- Work with grantees to ensure key marketing deadlines are met
Golden Festival itself will not provide staff, volunteers, or logistical assistance on the event day, this is the responsibility of the organisers.
